OUR STORY · SINCE 1948

A Legacy of Faith,
A Future of Care.

Sponsored by the Daughters of Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Sancta Maria operates as a 134-bed skilled nursing facility providing short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and related health care services. All beds are Medicare and Medicaid certified, and we are a member of the Catholic Health Care Association.

While our heritage is deeply Catholic, our doors and hearts are open to people of all faiths. We adhere to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, and we celebrate the diverse spiritual journeys of every resident who calls our facility home.

A History of Caring

From the "Red Sox Hospital" to a Trusted Home.

Founded as a hospital in 1948 on Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Sancta Maria was known as the "Red Sox hospital" — serving legends like Ted Williams, Tony Conigliaro, and Walt Dropo. In 1968 we relocated to our current site on Concord Avenue, and in 1989 we converted to a skilled nursing facility.

Our facility features a central oxygen system, comprehensive nursing stations on each floor, and on-site examination rooms — delivering the clinical capabilities of a hospital within the warmth of a residential community.
